An amazing thing happens today! I was driving back to the Ontario, California to catch a flight to Oakland, California. Since, I was a couple hours early from my plane’s departure time; I decided to stop over at my one of my favorite (if not favorite) hamburgers places called, IN N OUT burgers. As I pulled into the parking lot, I noticed the parking space that I parked in yesterday (yes I ate there the day before) was available….so I pulled into that space because it was in the corner of the lot and had easy access to the front door. I walked in and order my usual, “#1 Double-Double with fried onions.” I noticed the number on my receipt was almost the same number I got the day before. As I waited for my meal, I made my unique drink….4 or 5 cubes of ice; 3 or 4 squeezed lemons and then a half mixture of 7up and pink lemonade. It is good. Then I walked over to get a seat and I wondered if the seat I sat in yesterday was available again. It wasn’t available, but the two seats next to it was, so I put my drink down and went to get some napkins and ketchup as I was waiting for my order to be made. As I was sitting there taking in my surroundings and I noticed the gentleman that was in “my seat” was enjoying his food and as he finished he looked over at me and I smiled and he returned the smile. I struck up a conservation by sharing with him ---as I pointed to the bottom of my cup, “Did you notice under every cup, they print JOHN 3:16 and on the corner of their wrappers they print NAHUM 1:7 and REVELATION 3:20?” He said, “I didn’t, what does that mean (while he pointed at John 3:16 on my cup)?” I said, “It is a Bible verse in the Bible. It said, ‘God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but will have eternal or everlasting life.” He looked at me as if interested in what I just read to him. It almost was like ‘new’ to him. Then, I simply ask him, would you like to receive eternal life and pray a prayer. He nodded his head up and down, so I began to pray the prayer of Salvation with him. And he prayed it ---word for word--- with me. After praying, I said, According to the Bible you are saved and Jesus now lives inside your heart. Over the next few minutes, I shared and explained to him what had just taken place in his life. He seemed to have more joy come on his face and he began to grin more. I said, “Sir, What is your name?” He said, “Juan”. And I said, “My name is Todd.” I noticed on his shirt there was written the name of a company and below the company name the word, ‘Delano,’ which I knew was a town north of Los Angeles about a 3 hour drive. I said, “Juan, Are you from Delano?” He said, “Yes, I am a truck driver and I drive twice a week from Delano to this area. I leave on Sunday night and go back home probably tonight, every week. I drive this route twice a week.” Then Juan asked me what I did; I told him that I travel as a minister and shared with him some of the places that I have recently been to. He seemed to be amazed how frequent that I travel. I said, Juan, What would you think are the changes of you and me --- with our busy schedules--- ever meeting and sitting next to each other today. He looked at me and said, “One in a million.” I looked back at him and said, “It sounds more like ‘Juan’ in a million.” I told him that I pray this statement consistently, “That my steps are ordered by the Lord. And I believe…I am in the right place; at the right time and doing the right thing.” I told him that some days it doesn’t look like this isn’t happening, but there are some days I know it is happening. And today is one of those days. As, He was about to leave and I was finishing up my meal, I wrote a couple scriptures down on a napkin for Juan to read when He gets to a Bible. He looked at me and said, “It is people like you….that I like to meet.” I told him, we may never meet again here on earth, but I will see you again. If Heaven has an IN N OUT burger, I will make sure to save my new friend, Juan, my favorite seat.
