An ancient proverb says that a leader is like a driver. A driver - TopicsExpress

An ancient proverb says that a leader is like a driver. A driver has a discretion as to the route he would take to bring his passengers to their destination, but he has no discretion as to the destination he would take them to. If a leader attempts to take his people to a destination the people does not want to go, the people would abandon him. That proverb came to life today when the Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole was almost lynched by his own people in Benin city. The National Conference committee came visiting and as the people of Edo state came enmasse to welcome the committee, governor Oshiomole told the people that he does not see the need for a national conference. The people stood up in unism and booed the governor. Some came near to give the dude a slap but were prevented by the governors security attachees. The governor had to be surreptitiously sneeked out of the hall. Oshiomole was apparently parrotting and echoing what his party leader, Tinubu, told him to say. But Edo state is not yoruba land. We have intelligent people in Edo state. Nigerians have been looking for an opportunity to talk and now that it is about to come, some misguided leaders are playing politics with it. They do not know that a man can allow you toy with everything, but he cannot allow you play politics with his life because that is the only thing he has. That conference is the life of nigeria, politics and party affiliation aside. The comrade governor has learnt an important lesson in leadership that the interest of the people is always paramount. Thank God the governor is alive to meditate on this lesson.
