An anonymous opinion column? Interesting new times. If she did, she may have caught a distant whiff of Christmas carol music... Such as Jingle Bells? Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Do they know its Christmastime? Most carols arent particularly religious. This cannot be my president. Malta had to put up with someone who declared that the people of Malta are Catholics, and who stated that he doesnt consider himself president of those who are not. Now were rid of him, and we have a president who calls a spade a spade. But that is not culture; that is indulgence at taxpayer expense. Pretty subjective. Most are great - and very much cultural. The beauty of culture is that it is free. And yet here you are trying to dictate what is and is not culture. Our culture is rooted in Christian tradition and values Not really. Most Christian traditions are actually pre-Christian (pagan) traditions press-ganged into the service of the Holy Roman Empire. As for the values, it was secularism that caused Christianity to trade in its values (torture, burning people alive etc) for a more humane set of values based on empathy and human rights. Its not all that long ago that failure to be a Christian was a punishable offence. Today, secularists are defending the right of everyone - including Christians - to believe what they want, and no thanks to Christianity. There is no country in Europe where Christian fundamentalists have imposed their values. Christian fundamentalists imposed their immorality on every country in Europe in the recent past. Relativism, for anyone who upholds values, is unacceptable. Really? Let him who is without sin cast the first stone - there you are, relativism. It is Christian values that fill up the coffers of the Community Chest Fund run by her presidency. It is empathy that does - and empathy is certainly not the exclusive domain of Christianity.
