An appeal for support from Shakespeares Globe Theatre. This is a real opportunity toplay an active part in the making of theatre and Battlefield History without having to part with £45 or watch 3 plays. It would look great on any CV and be a talking point for years to come. Dear all, As I’m sure you are aware, Shakespeare’s Globe are bringing all three parts of Shakespeare’s Henry VI Trilogy to Towton on 14th July. Plans are coming on apace – the show is in its final week of rehearsals before spending a further week in what is essentially an aircraft hangar in East London, and then heading up to York for the opening. So far, so good. So now, we need your help. We are going to need an army (excuse the pun) of volunteer stewards on the day, and would love as many people as possible to be involved. Here are some useful bits of information: - Stewards will be needed from 10.00am – 10.30pm. A long day! That said, of course I’ll accept offers from folk who can commit to only part of that if the length of day is off-putting / impossible. - All stewards will work in pairs so that it will always be possible to go for a wee, grab a coffee etc without abandoning any post. - These pairs will rotate around the site so that everyone gets to do a bit of everything. This includes manning the audience area, which of course means being able to see parts of the show. In addition, each pair has at least one scheduled ‘off-duty’ moment, which again can be used to see the show if that was the preference. - We’ll provide tea and coffee etc and some food via the caterers who will be there – I plan to strike up a couple of deals, so more info to follow. - Whilst I can’t promise what the weather will be doing, I can promise it will be a gloriously cheerful experience, and we will be hugely to grateful to anyone who comes forward. Can I ask that people register their interest by emailing me on this address? I really look forward to hearing from you, and don’t hesitate to get in touch in you need more specific information at this stage.
