An area of low pressure is approaching the region which will bring us rain overnight tonight into Thursday. Low pressure will deepen off the east coast tomorrow and the rain be become heavier and steadier throughout the day. Were expecting around 3/4-1 1/4 of rain with this system. Breezy northwesterly winds will build in behind the system and well see clearing skies by Friday morning. Highs Friday will be in the mid 50s, but once high pressure builds in Friday night and the winds die down, well experience some radiational cooling. Saturday morning lows will range from the upper 30s to near 40° around NYC, low to mid 30s for most of Long Island, and upper 20s in the Pine Barrens. Highs Saturday will only be in the 40s. Models have backed off an impactful storm hitting the east coast Sunday/Monday, however, a cold front moving through Sunday will set the stage for winter. We will be infiltrated by our good friend the Polar Vortex. A huge cutoff upper level low over Hudson Bay, Canada will rotate around and very slowly sag south, bringing plenty of Arctic air our way for the foreseeable future. Im seeing high temps next week barely into the 40s, with overnight lows in the 20s and low 30s. This seems to be the pattern were entering into, which will likely last at least into the first part of the winter. Batten down the hatches if you dont like the cold. And on a side note having nothing to do with the weather; Ill be leaving for Walt Disney World this evening to run in the Wine and Dine Half Marathon this Saturday night. It may be tough for me to post forecasts, but you better believe Im gonna try. Gotta get my last dose of warm weather before spring °O°
