An armed robber nicknamed ‘skull cracker’, who was serving 13 life sentences, has escaped from an open prison in Kent. Michael Wheatley (55) earned his nickname for the repeated use of a replica handgun which he used a blunt weapon in his robberies. Kent Police are currently searching for the criminal after he failed to return to the open prison, HMP Standford Hill on the Isle of Sheppey. Police advise anyone who identifies him to not approach him but to alert the authorities immediately.
