An article by NPR which discusses the largest minority religions - TopicsExpress

An article by NPR which discusses the largest minority religions in America being Islam followed by other faiths such as Hindu, Jewish etc, but despite Islam being the second largest religion in the country the article fails to give any historical background on it. When you look at the comments that follow, yes you see quite a few ignorant or bigoted responses. Fortunately those who are better educated or who seemed out knowledge themselves respond to such comments. Its odd that Islamic history is not taught in more often in schools considering Islam is what laid down one of the most essential, technological, artistic and scientific human movements of advancement that ever occurred in history for without the golden age of Islam we might have still been a few centuries behind in our current and wonderful current era of progress. Earlier Muslims brought a lot of these development as a united people with bright and bold individuals whom thought differently.......what if? And why not? Even some of the brightest and creative people today are Muslims in the leading edge of the sciences and the arts. More education and insight into Islamic history in schools would likely dispel many of the misnomers and confusion that occur that who never learned about Islam and the muslim people. A muslim people that have been commanded to seek knowledge that for eons of time strived to stay ahead of the curve in advancement of civilization. When I was 22 is when I first heard in college about the golden age of Islam and it put me in awe even after all the years I had been learning about the renaissance in art history. I wanted to learn more after the brief 2 day lecture but that was all the college had in their curriculum and any additional knowledge would have to be sought on my own. npr.org/blogs/theprotojournalist/2014/06/21/322919723/the-runner-up-religions-of-america?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20140622
