An article in The Columbian today reports the imminent closing of non-profit Gallery 360s brick-lined space on 9th Street. Their landlord chose not to renew their lease, and now theyre in search of an affordable new location somewhere in the Vancouver Arts District downtown. Ill have two artworks in their farewell show, which will run for only four days before they close, so come by during the First Friday Artwalk or that weekend. When I moved to Vancouver, Washington three years ago, Id been wanting to try my hand at visual art. So I started taking Gallery 360s monthly juried exhibitions as an ongoing challenge, resolving to make and submit at least one work each month to fit the theme of that months call-for-art. Theres nothing like having an idea and a deadline to light a fire under me! Since then, I havent always managed to finish a piece every month, but on average Ive made up for it by having two or three ready in other months. And although Ive occasionally had artworks on display elsewhere, Gallery 360 has been my main channel for showing my humble efforts to the public. I wish them the best of success in their search for a new home!
