An article in our Dutch newspaper Trouw describes how Chinese tourists enjoy their holidays in Tibet: they twitter and facebook on the Chinese versions of these media: everywhere in cities, towns and villages police and army, and snipers on the roofs. Everywhere they go, they are asked for their ID-cards. They twitter, mocking, : Lhasa is far safer than Beijing, and Lhasa looks like Bagdad. Unfortunately, the article, with secretly taken pictures (photographs of police and military are of course forbidden), isnt available yet online, so I cant put a link. In my opinion, the Chinese government is using Tibet as a training area to train their troops for possible rebellions. They could better give this province the autonomy they ask for, thats cheaper and everybody will be happier than under this unjustified occupation, calling the Dalai Lama a criminal traitor. But I think the Chinese government is afraid that if Tibet will be granted autonomy, then other provinces will also demand it, and thats not good for their positions and bank accounts.
