An article that perfectly encapsulates my mixed feelings about The Hobbit trilogy. The first hour of the first film was staggeringly boring for me before picking up, the second movie was fun, funny and exciting and the finale was largely one clanging sword after another. I hate to say it, but this final film was easily the most underwhelming film in Peter Jacksons altogether astounding 6-part venture into the world of Tolkien. Whats your feeling about these films and their indelible impact on NZ film, culture and indeed tourism over the past 15 years? Irrespective of my mixed feelings having seen this final film, I have the upmost respect for Peter Jackson and have no hesitation in heralding him as one of this countrys all-time national treasures.
