An average Ton of Household and Restaurant Garbage in India - TopicsExpress

An average Ton of Household and Restaurant Garbage in India constitute the following: 400 kg food/related organic matter; 150 kg plastics; 150 kg paper/related matter; the balance 300 kg constitute various other materials including electronic goods, glass materials, metal and non organic materials. The Food-organic matter could be converted into biogas that would generate 240 units of electricity and heat + 25 Kg biofertilizer + 260 L bio-water. The entire other solids (a total of 600 Kg) could be converted into Engineered Composites resulting in various utility products such as Molded doors, Flooring, Roofing structural systems etc. these could have values in the range Rs.45,000 to Rs.60,000. It is high time the society starts planning and organizing to convert garbage into economically useful materials so that cleanliness actions become highly rewarding economic activities. Social groups and NGOs should come forward to do this. This writer is prepared to offer technical support
