An early 20th century paneled oak 3 over 4 drawer expandable file - TopicsExpress

An early 20th century paneled oak 3 over 4 drawer expandable file with brass hardware and file compressors. The side panels are removable for adding additional banks of drawers. The manufacturer is identified on the top edge on a brass tag as Yawman & Erbe, Mfg. Co., Rochester, N.Y. Measurements: • Height: 53” overall • Width: 17-1/2” • Depth: 28-3/4” overall” • Top Three Drawer Fronts: 14-1/4” x 10-3/4” • Bottom Four Drawer Fronts: 6” x 4-1/2” The finish is original and shows some wear as expected but still in decent shape. The top has a black water ring and the side panel inserts are veneer panels, 3 of which have some bubbling and cracks. One top drawer has a compression rod though it is incomplete and non-serviceable as it is and the other two are missing their rods. One drawer is missing its compression rod escutcheon on the drawer front. The top three drawers operate on rollers with metal hardware and work well. The bottom four drawers are complete with compressors and work fine. Structurally it is solid and durable (and heavy!) and very usable. Also included are two sets of vertical file guides by Yawman & Erbe (one set missing the letter Z guide otherwise complete), one set of 25 by Weis (complete) and one set of 25 by unknown maker (complete) all in very good usable condition.
