An email I received from my dad a little earlier today... Friends – So often, these days, we hear or see glowing references to America’s “heroes”, of every stripe – military, law enforcement, firefighters, sports, entertainment, etc. While the recognition and acknowledgment is appreciated by all who receive it - most merely from having worn the uniform of a branch of America’s Armed Forces - we also know that the term is generally overused, most likely due to a societal sense of guilt carried over from the shabby treatment received by so many returning Vietnam veterans. There are, however, and always have been, genuine, proven heroes amongst us. Col. Jim Kasler, USAF was one such REAL hero! I never met Jim but, I do know that he was an incredibly TOUGH guy, who was beaten, repeatedly, to within an inch of his life, in the NVN POW camp we called, “The Zoo”, by a Cuban interrogator who was determined to “break” him into total submission. The Cuban was not successful. Please take a moment to read about this special warrior, below, and follow this link to another tribute and a picture of Jim. veterantributes.org/TributeDetail.php?recordID=20
