An end to Sportsmanship! The KHSAA has decided that there will be no more post game sportsmanship handshakes between teams in any Middle and High school sporting venues. This is just one more example of how the acts of a few effect the outcome of many! The KHSAA simply has too much power and makes decisions that are clearly not in the kids best interests! This decision clearly was based on the fact that there has been a few instances of poor sportsmanship. I understand that the safety of our kids is priority one! However, Taking away this post game ritual will only lead to an increase in poor sportsmanship being displayed more routinely during games. I believe that the proper way to deal with poor sportsmanship is to discipline the individuals responsible. Tougher regulations and penalties for violating sportsmanship bylaws could help prevent instances from occurring. Instead, the KHSAA simply overreacted and placed a ban on post game handshakes between teams! I say the KHSAA should start holding athletes more accountable for their actions with tougher penalties for breaking the rules! Dont let the acts of a few dictate the rules for all! Whats next, No coaches or players present for the coin toss??
