An essential part of prepping a vehicle for polishing or a good coat of wax/sealant is removing bonded and embedded contamination from painted surfaces. Just washing a car without the extra step of using Iron-X (dissolves metal/rust particles) and a clay bar (removes bonded contamination such as mineral deposits, rail dust, brake dust, tar, paint over spray, etc) does not completely remove all dirt from the surface. Paint surface preparation is the most important part of making your vehicle glossy and shiny and ensures a wax/sealant lasts as long as possible. Here is an example of Iron-X dissolving iron particles that have embedded in the paint. Iron-X sprays on clear and starts to bleed when it reacts with iron.
