An estimated 3.2 million people in the US have chronic Hepatitis C. Most are unaware of their infection. Each year, about 17,000 Americans become infected with Hep C. Approximately 12,000 people die every year from hep C-related liver disease. We lost anouther young man this week to this disease. He fought as long as his body could. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Most people know I found out I was infected over 11 years ago. The treatment was painful for me and all those around me. I was blessed and my blood work is great now. Hep C does not show up with normal check-ups and blood work. I had two surgeries and it was never flagged. If you are over 40 ask your Dr to included the test in your next check-up. Be smart and do not share toothbrushes and razors.
