An evil heart is a hardened heart: “…Wherefore, holy [sanctified] brothers partakers of the heavenly calling, carefully consider the apostles and high priest of our confession, namely, Jesus, who is faithful to Him Who appointed him, as Moses also was faithful in His [God’s] whole house. “Moreover, this man has been considered worthy of more honor than Moses, inasmuch as someone who builds [prepares] a house has more honor than the house. In fact, every house is built [prepared] by someone, but He Who builds [prepares] everything is God. “Moses was certainly faithful as a servant as a servant in His [God’s] whole house for a witness of those things which were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful as a Son over His [God’s] house, whose house we are if we hold fast the boldness and boasting of the hope/ firmly unto the end [completely]. “Therefore just as the Holy Spirit (God) says: “Today , when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the day of rebellion during the day of temptation in the wilderness, where your fathers tempted Me by testing Me, and they saw My works forty years. “For this reason, I was angry with that generation and said, ‘They are always being misled in heart, and they have not known My ways.’ So I swore an oath in My wrath, They will not enter into My rest.’ “Take heed, brothers, so that there will not be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in withdrawing from the living God. Instead, exhort one another each and every day, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you are hardened by the deception of sin. “In fact, we have become part of the full share of the Christ, if indeed we hold fast the beginning of the foundation firmly unto the end [completely] according to what was said, “Today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.’ “Now who rebelled when they heard? Nevertheless, did not everyone of tem come out of Egypt by Moses? With whom was He angry those forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? “To whom did he swear an oath that ‘They will not enter into My rest,’ If not those who were disobedient? So we see they were not able to enter into [His rest] because of unbelief.” Hebrews 3 “Volume 2, A Journey through Acts and the Epistles
