An ex quota system Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, acquires his fourth private jet for N11.5 billion. The aircraft was registered in Dubai with special specifications. By registering the aircraft overseas, he has avoided tax and import duty, which he should pay to a country (Nigeria) where he is a citizen and from which he made the money which he now spends on a foreign crew. No Nigerian pilot or engineer would be employed to operate or work on the aircraft because with the foreign registration, only pilots and engineers licensed in the United Arab Emirates would be authorized to operate and service the aircraft. We should recall that this Sheriff has been blamed for fostering the terrorist Boko Haram sect in North-eastern Nigeria. Its worthy to note also that in his state, there is hardly any functional School or health care facility, yet he wasted N11.5 billion to acquire his jet number 4.
