An excellent discussion, and one that deserves a signal boost. Maybe Im biased, having come to comics after becoming successful as a novelist, but when I created THE LAST ZOMBIE for Antarctic Press, one of the things I insisted on right up front was that the artists on the book would get equal credit should we be lucky enough to get a media adaptation. Antarctic graciously agreed. (And as I write this, Ive been fielding several tentative queries of interest on the property, so should one of those become solid, the artists would get their fair share, as originally stipulated). But yeah, Ive heard this complaint from other comics professionals. Comics are a strange, murky business. Glad I have books to fall back on. Wouldnt want to write comics full-time.
