An excellent interview of Prof. Peter Neumann by Judy Woodruff on PBS yesterday evening. I agree fully with the assessment made. It is a sad problem of identity when born-French children of immigrants are not fully accepted into French society on the basis of how they look or other non-objective factors. Also important to note is the fact that, in France, there is no set law on the attribution of nationality. There is a jurisprudence concerning it; and so, this must exacerbate the feelings and drive some to the ultimate. Now, it goes without saying that, any community accepting this state of things would be targeted more than ones who display a kind understanding of the problem... Lots of food for thought there. I suggest this video be watched.
