An excellent scene from the movie The American President.... defending free speech.... if youve seen it, you know the scene... if not... might appreciate some of the words and relate them to current incidents.... I am an American, but sometimes that seems flimsy considering our commitment to humanity around the world. on defending the Bill of Right and the Constitutions.... America isnt easy... America is advanced citizenship... youve got to want it bad... cause its gonna put up a fight, its gonna say, you want free speech? Lets see you acknowledge a man whos words make your blood boil, whos standing center stage and advocating center stage and advocating center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend your life advocating that which you would a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land is the land of the free, then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag, the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest... defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms, then you can sing about the land of the free.... .... some might resonate in the fear promotion of politics, media, etc today ....
