An excellent weekend as RCC booked their place for the semi-finals - TopicsExpress

An excellent weekend as RCC booked their place for the semi-finals in the BCCR higher league by comprehensively defeating both WCC and TBA in the so-called Group of Death. In a 28-over aside game, WCC put RCC into bat and at 50-0 off 5 overs they were soon regretting their decision. Stable half-centuries from Upendra Inamdar and Harendra Singh ensured WCC required a steep 230 to win. The chase never got going and most of the batsmen got clean bowled with Harendra Singh earning the man of the match with a deadly spell of 4-8. Super Sunday saw arch rivals TBA losing the toss and politely being asked to field. RCC lost Hitesh early but a second-wicket partnership of a quick 130runs between Rocky and Upendra laid the foundation for a fiercesome attack with RCC ending their innings for 299 - the highest total in BCCR history. TBA were under pressure from the very first ball of their chase and some good attacking pace bowling from Wasim Aslam and Chanaka Fernando didnt help their cause. They finally played out all 30 overs to lose by a big margin. With TBA out of the picture, WCC must now hope that RCC beat Sabina Pak by an unimaginable margin to have a mathematical possibility of going through on net run rate. However, RCC may be encouraged to give Abhash Malik, Alex Sikdar and Rasik Chaturvedi a chance by resting key players in an unimportant game for them.
