An excerpt from an interesting blog for novice teachers by Mohamed Imlil! I like it :D Carrots Or Khotatos :D Last month, I was teaching vocabulary related to foods and I drew a chart on the board trying to classify foods according to certain headings, Vegetables, Fruits, Meats …etc. As the lesson went on, I picked up a picture of Potato and asked them “what’s this” they answered,” It’s potato”. I reinforced and moved and picked up a new picture of tomatoes and I asked “what’s this” and they collectively answered “it’s Tomatoes”. Afterwards, I picked up a picture of carrots and I said “no more collective answers, hands up” And then a Boy on the left corner awkwardly answered, “it’s Khotatos” and I was laughing and I asked him to repeat once more, and he repeated and the whole class was laughing… It was quiet a stupid answer but it helped me to make the class funny and enjoyable as I was repeating “Khotatos” each time I introduce a new VOCA during the whole session..:)Thus the boy thoroughly changed the climate of the classroom from being serious to funny and exciting… For more interesting issues, check it :) terrificmed.wordpress/
