An exciting day today here in Queensland for the Special Olympics - TopicsExpress

An exciting day today here in Queensland for the Special Olympics Australia Asia Pacific Games Queensland Athletes as they were presented with their Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games backpacks at QSAC today. It was wonderful seeing all the Athletes in their Team Australia green and gold shirts looking proud as they got together as a team for this special occasion. For our cricketers the day started very early this morning as they competed in a friendly game against the Newmarket Cricket Team. For many of our Cricketers this was the first time they have played against a mainstream team. What a brilliant way to prepare for the many different competitors that they will meet in Newcastle. A exciting result today as Special Olympics won the match against the Newmarket Cricketers! All the Cricketers hope to repeat this one day challenge again next year. Big thank you to Special Olympics Queensland, especially Terry Visscher, State Manager, who assured us that we should and would be able to go ahead with todays game even though the Uniform Presentation was happening in the afternoon. It is great to see team spirit being demonstrated not only on the cricket pitch but throughout Special Olympics. Can not wait until Newcastle, youre looking great guys good luck!
