An explanation: In the State of the Union President Obama - TopicsExpress

An explanation: In the State of the Union President Obama challenged the Congress to take common sense steps for working families. He called for closing loopholes that benefit the very rich and taxing big banks with large liabilities. He would use the money to provide a tax break for working parents, and help make college more affordable. The Republicans have their own plans. Rep. David Jolly of Florida thinks the rich pay too much and introduced H.R. 144: Alternative Maximum Tax Act. Texas Rep. Mac Thornberry wants to eliminate a tax that applies only to the estates of the richest 0.15 percent (H.R. 173: Death Tax Repeal Act). It wont help you, but it saves the Koch brothers $17.4 billion. Rep. Rob Woodall of Georgia wants to get rid of the income tax, investment tax, corporate tax and replace it with a sales tax that would disproportionately burden working and poor people. Which vision should win? The one that says that the wealthiest and the banks should pay a little more so the poor and middle class can have a chance at an education? Or the one that protects inherited fortunes and condemns secretaries to pay a higher rate than the billionaires they serve? Campaign for Americas Future is in the fight, as we have been for nearly two decades. We will fight to make the rich and the big corporations and banks pay their fair share of taxes. We will not get everything we want out of this Congress, but with your help we will support those who stand with working people and expose those who protect the big money and entrenched interests. ----- Yes, this is pasted from a progressive group named, Campaign for Americas future. But they are looking out for all of us not just the richest of us.
