An eye openr for those who are supporting SANA leadership out of way.... So Long Dear SANA. SANA, which once used to be a great representative body of overseas Sindhis in North America, and which had become source of inspiration over the years to many young and old Sindhis, seems to have approached to its climax of charisma, influence, and effectiveness. It is no brainer to foresee a brewing rift, a possible disintegration, or melting into factions in SANA. Most everybody knows that SANA is controlled and manipulated by a powerful group of Sindhis, mainly from Mid West America, and mainly by few wealthy and influential doctors, who have mastered the art of orchestrating the rhythm of this great organization that used to be. Finally, somebody has challenged the maneuvering antics of those power brokers and king makers within SANA. I am astonished at the strong arm tactics of some of the power brokers within SANA to enforce a so called referendum to affect the power consolidation trick over the organization. Up until mid 2011 I had an honor to be on the By-Laws committee of SANA. For as long as I was on the Committee I do not recall even a slightest discussion of referendum to settle an issue within SANA. It is utterly invalid justification that since there is no prohibition of referendum mentioned in the By-Laws; one could use this as a carte blanche to do whatever, or manipulate things as he/she deems fit. So, somebody takes the once great SANA to court of law. Win, lose, or draw, it is SANA, which stands to lose its effectiveness and good reputation among Sindhis the world over, apparently, due to stubbornness of some of the powerful life members. Over the years SANA power brokers have developed a characteristic of imbedded arrogance within the organization. Nobody had ever dared to challenge them up until I started questioning their ethics and legality in disqualifying 56 voters from Canadian side of the border in 2010 Elections of SANA. To my utter disappointment I remained alone protesting for the rights of Canadian members. All the elite and decent iconic members had their lips zipped. It was a mindset SANA was developing under the leadership of the chosen few. Apparently I knew this day was coming in the very near future since 2011, when some of the most powerful members of the SANA had ganged up on me like mafia, and none of the so called elite and decent iconic members had uttered a single word reason to hush their slumber buddies. At first, it was the matter of mismanagement and questionable distribution of the funds collected by SANA for the relief of the victims of Cyclone Phet, and Super Floods in 2010. Although, SANA had collected donations for the victims of Cyclone Phet, but it never disbursed the funds to the victims at any time, but the treasurer claimed that he had sent the funds to SGA in Sindh for the distribution among the victims. Despite my repeated questioning and protests, nothing happened. Later on, Dr. Suleman Shaikh, head of the SGA had vehemently denied receiving any funds from SANA for the victims Cyclone Phet. SANA claim was denied, and I stood correct. I do have the email from Dr. Suleman Shaikh to that effect. The other incident of mismanagement of funds came at the time of Super Floods of 2010 in Sindh. SANA had once again collected a large sum of donations for the victims of floods from North American Sindhis. Thousands of people had lost their lives, millions of live stock was dead, hundreds of thousands of homes were destroyed, millions of children had suffered from malnutrition, but SANA had decided not to distribute the donations in time to provide relief to the victims of floods. In fact, it has a different scheme in mind. SANA never distributed the funds in time to help the flood affected until after 2011, almost one year after the floods were gone. Despite the fact that there were two NGOs managed by the SANA members actively working on ground, and helping flood affected people in different parts of Sindh, SANA decided to use an NGO owned by a notorious anti Sindhi organization, Engro Corp in Ghotki. Once again I was the only person to question SANA E.C’s ethics and morals in this whole episode, and strongly protested against its clandestine decision to use a discriminatory non Sindhi organization to distribute funds collected from Sindhis. I always wondered what was the motive of SANA E.C, and some of the powerful in patronizing such an organization, which is proven enemy of Sindhis. Once again I was bullied, verbally attacked, harassed and humiliated by some of the powerful and mafia natured arrogant members from St. Louise, MO, fully backed and supported by the SANA information secretary, who used the harassing tactics on me to quell my objections. I was the first, and (perhaps) the last SANA member, whose emails on Sanalist were censored by this Gestapo information secretary of SANA. Once again, all the elite and decent iconic members of SANA were quiet and nobody spoke against the illegal, unethical, and immoral practices, and filthy language of their slumber buddies. It was that time when I unsubscribed myself from sanalist. I am thankful to SANA of Canada that kept me on this list for the last couple of years. This could be my last email on Sana of Canada as well. The SANA, that was once created by some of the most humble, and genuinely decent and real sons of Sindh has been undergoing some drastic changes. It was now adapting to the dictatorial and vindictive culture under the thumbs of a few power hungry, which had special interests contrary to the interests of the common members of this organization.
