An important message from the Ministerial Search Committee: We - TopicsExpress

An important message from the Ministerial Search Committee: We are pleased to present the Reverend Julia Hamilton as our official candidate to be the next settled Lead Minister for the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara! After months of listening to the hopes, dreams, and concerns of our beloved congregation, the committee obtained a much clearer sense of our congregation as it is and who we aspire to be. When Reverend Hamilton formally informed us of her interest in stepping up to the role of Lead Minister, we were able to better evaluate her ability to meet our congregation’s needs for a senior minister in interviews, references, observation and written. But our committee was also keenly aware of the fact that for a ministry to be effective, both the congregation and the minister must sense a “call,” a felt conviction that this match is right for both. After thoughtfully considering all the information available to us, it is our heartfelt and considered opinion that Reverend Hamilton is the right match for our congregation. What happens next? 1. Candidating week: An extended opportunity to personally interact with Reverend Julia Hamilton in light of her prospective new role as our religious leader. Our first confirmed event for candidating week will be a Meet & Greet with Reverend Julia Hamilton on Sunday, December 7th. Lunch will be provided for FREE for those that RSVP. Lunch will be from 12:15 until 1:00pm. From 1:00-2:30pm there will be a presentation and Q&A session. There will be a table to RSVP in the courtyard between services or you can e-mail bpschroeder14@hotmail More information regarding other activities throughout the week will be coming soon. 2. Congregation Vote to Call on December 14: A formal vote will be held to officially “call” Reverend Julia Hamilton as our Senior Minister. More detailed instructions to follow. 3. Celebrate! Depending upon the outcome of the vote, a formal installation for Reverend Julia Hamilton will be scheduled sometime in the Spring of 2015. 4. Assistant Minister: The Board will appoint a task force to seek a second minister who would be expected to report for duty in August, 2015.
