An income tax client received an email from Berks Encore stating that the client did not sign a form to receive their tax return via direct deposit, and that he must re-submit his account information. This is a SCAM! Berks Encore DOES NOT email individuals for additional information on their income tax returns. When additional information is needed, the VITA site coordinator contacts the taxpayer by telephone. Please be aware! If you receive an email scam like this one, report it to the PA Attorney Generals Office at 1(866) 623-2137.
