An interesting article about how little even big-name artists are making by exhibiting at conventions. And since I straddle the comics/gaming fence, I can concur that this is not a problem thats isolated to one industry. Really, I think that the BIGGEST problem is that folks used to come to conventions with the idea that theres going to be tons of stuff that I can ONLY buy here ... but in our current online sales world, thats just not true ... about almost ANYTHING anymore. Now theres the feeling that just about anything CAN be gotten online ... and folks are spending their money on the EVENT itself. Im not saying thats a bad thing ... but I AM saying that its definitely a strong consideration for those of us who are trying to figure out whether or not its WORTH exhibiting (or even attending) a given show.
