An interesting day at the tax office today. You all know that I work for HR Block and have done so for 20 years. Our CSP, called a prior customer today to try to schedule an appointment with me. The woman said NO she had gone to an accountant this year and they charged her $65.00 and last year we charged her thousands! She was NEVER coming back and telling everyone how horrible we were. WE went into her last years tax return and we charged her $350. She had a Schedule C ( which is self employment and a lot of forms that go with that, including depreciation, her vehicle and lots of other things. She was a new customer and we had to put things into our system that normally we would not to have done. As aways when we have something like this with high costs for the customer, we always offer to return the papers to our customers, so they can file elsewhere with no charge to them. She filed with us last year She took the papers to Her accountant this year, why he didnt do it for her last year, I dont remember. She badmouthed HRB,because the people who do taxes have only 2 months of training and they have no clue. She didnt know who had done her taxes last year. I started our saying that I have worked for HRB 20 years and take classes all year long. She jumped at me saying she didnt care how long I have done taxes, we still only have 2 months of training. I said to her that I did your taxes last year and have been with HRB for 20 years and she said but you still are not trained like an account and have no idea. I told her yes I do, I have a BS in Economic and Business Education from the State of NY, I taught school for 6 years, I was an assigned risk underwriter for Travelers Insurance Company for 15 years. She finally said when I told the girl who called, why did you call me I told her that we were concerned. She said she was still going to bad mouth HRB all over. Cant figure it out or please everyone.
