An interesting piece of news history for the YDHR occurred this weekend in 1997. Taken from the Toronto Railway History Yahoo group: June 28, 1997: The York-Durham Heritage Railway officially opens its new station at Stouffville, shared with GO Transits Toronto-Stouffville commuter train service. CN had demolished its two-story station in the 1980s. GO owns the tracks between Stouffville and Uxbridge over which the tourist train operates, pending a future expansion of the commuter rail system. In 2008, GO extended the line 2.5 kilometers in that direction to Lincolnville, at Bethesda Sideroad and 10th Line.
