An interesting question has been raised recently on facebook about the Taekwon-Do belt being wrapped around your waist once represents to serve one Master... Those arguing if this should mean showing loyalty to ones instructor or not, need only take a little longer to look through General Chois encyclopedia as the General will answer their question. For General Choi writes under points to be observed by instructors and students that a student should always be loyal to their instructor, Taekwon-Do and the teaching methods. There are black belts and instructor around that seem to change their instructor as often as they change their underwear, moving from one instructor to another. These black belts should take the time to reflect that as they move on to their next instructor that the reasons for their criticism should not be with the instructor they have just left but they need to look within themselves as no doubt that is where the problem lays. This of course does not mean there is never a time to change instructors, but any student of Taekwon-Do should always remain loyal to their instructor and show respect to all those be they instructors or other students who have helped in their Taekwon-Do progression. And as General Choi also writes there may come a time when a student needs to move on to learn more from a more senior or more experienced instructor, this does not, however, mean that they should forget their loyalty to their first instructor, this respect should always be shown.
