An international automotive first tier supplier providing automotive exterior solutions is looking for a mechanical design engineer to develop new products in CATIA V5. You have minimum a HND in Mechanical Engineer or a time served design engineer with experience in injection moulding. Commutable from: Basingstoke, Southampton, Worthing, Guildford, Portsmouth Salary: £ 35,000 - £ 38,000 + benefits Suitable for: Lead Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical Design, Senior Design Engineer, Principal Design Engineer The Role Reporting into the Design Manager you will be responsible for the design and development work for all existing and future products/components launches, whilst leading and driving the Design/Development team towards there project goals You will be responsible for originating new product proposals (NPD and NPI) Compile full product specifications, create BOM and timing plans, ensure they have been raised and agreed by the project team. Design to manufacture - utilizing all necessary CAD and other technology Develop, as part of a cross-functional team, acceptable technical solutions - acceptable in this sense relates to all business aspects of the solution to include: financial analyses, design for manufacturing, assembly and test, FMEA-driven quality solutions Participate within design reviews, understanding of DFMA and Value Engineering to achieve minimum cost within estimate and specification (DFM / DFA / VE / VA). Promote new designs, materials and methods to reduce the cost of manufacture, time to market or improve the performance of company products.
