An interview I made in May 2012 during the Memorial of Short Stirling LK147 at Gardermoen airfield, were 20 men perished. F.Lt Douglas Doug Coxell was the first Allied pilot to land his Halifax Aircraft on Gardermoen Airfield on 9 May 1945, with Germans still in the controll tower! Flight Engineer Norman Shepherd and his Crewmembers were on their way to Gardermoen airfield on the faithfull day 10 May 1945. His aircraft received the recall signal across the North Sea, and they managed to turn back to base.
