An observation... Because I am not Maori does not mean that I do not have Whanau. My Whanau may be 12,000 miles away, but they are there and close to me. It does not mean that I am not Tangata Whenua. On my last trip I finally realised what that meant with all its implications. When I met Whanau and came home, it hit me how much I am rooted to my land. My home. New Zealand is home as well, but the home fires now burn in two places, separated by a planet.
