An observation. Last Summer Rocky made friends with a neighborhood boy who was terrified of dogs. Isaac and Rocky are best buddies now. Isaacs brother, Josiah is also afraid of dogs. All passed on by their mom. Mom was still not crazy about them until today. I was walking Rocky and he and Isaac were playing. Someone approached us that we didnt know and right away Rocky went into protection mode. No growling or barking but, just standing there with every muscled tensed staring this guy down. The man took a step toward us and Rocky took one toward him. Rocky showed remarkable control in this situation. The boys mom, the lady afraid of dogs watched everything Rocky did until the man left. She asked me why he did it. I explained the protective attitude of Boxers toward THEIR children and that Rocky considered her boys his charges. I further explained that, if that man had presented and real danger to her boys or HER, he would have fought even until death to defend them. She began to cry and told how she was attacked by a dog when she was a girl. Well, guess who walked right up to her and started licking her tears away? He put his head on her shoulder and she hugged him so tightly. Rocky made 2 more friends today and once again showed this old man how Love, kindness and compassion are really what makes the world go round. I am so proud of him. I really am.
