An observation made clear by Solomon, Proverbs 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a mans friend by hearty counsel. He is saying that a a scent is very powerful that it can quickly give you positive pleasure or a negative tone. In the same way a person in your life who cares deeply for you such a s a friend or loved one can bring about the same. One can give sweetness and rejoice the heart and the other makes you feel as if you are a bother. Do you have friends who if you needed them they would run to raise your spirit higher and share the joy that God has shown all of us through his lovingkindness? Are you such a friend that if ever needed you would just know and would never even have to be asked? I am grateful I have friends in my life like sweet perfume and that gives hearty counsel. I find the best way to have friends like this is to be one yourself, to friends, neighbors, fellow workers, strangers and of course your loves who mean so much in your heart.
