An old poem I wrote a long time ago but today I rededicate it to my niece and her husband who just had a baby today. The Product of Love You met her one day that girl you’ve been searching for, you saw her and you knew she was the one for you. Time then passed and you were sure she was the ONE you searched for. You took a chance and asked her if she’d walk the road of life with you. She smiled at you and touched your hand looked into your eyes and felt the same. You were the man she longed for. Before times could change you declared your vows under his roof and promised your love would last till death would you part. The times you spent together were moments of ecstasy. You felt you had found a moment in eternity. Your love blossomed like the seed in the fertile ground and then you learned one day the seed was fertile and the day was to come when she’d bear you a child. You felt proud and your thoughts were of the day he’d see his first light. And you said to yourself “Though I’ve been a fool, in times now gone, I’ll try to teach that child what it means to be a Man”. “I’ll teach him to live in the light of the creator I’ll teach give to love to understand to forgive but most of all to Love” “I’ll give him the opportunities I’ve let go by I’ll make his body firm and make sure his days are happy ones. And when the day finally comes that he’ll leave home and he walks the road of life perhaps he’ll know what it’s all about.” “He’ll meet a man and show him the way He’ll meet a woman and love her true He’ll know the lesson I meant to teach him of the ill gotten penny and I’ll bless the day the Lord saw fit to give him unto us.” “He’ll be the light of our old age He’ll be the fulfillment of our unfulfilled dream. He’ll be a man my son, He’ll be!” “He’ll understand the writings of great men now gone. He’ll learn that life has a very important cause We were born to give unto each other of ourselves and help a man lost in darkness.” “And when I near my death bed perhaps I’ll have a smile upon my lips I’ll have known that I gave the world a man to help them.” “And may he be spared the error of my ways It has been said men learn from the errors of the past Let him learn from mine. Let him understand forgive, and be just My son, My son”
