An older gentleman made an appointment and came to see me from Berbice this afternoon. He saw our video documentaries on TV and decided to contact us. He is suffering from depression as a result of a terrible break-up and living as a closeted gay man all his life. He described himself as near suicidal and being on a lifeline. I am so glad he decided to call and come in, but I wonder how many more #LGBT Guyanese like him they are all over the country suffering silently and alone. If youre in a similar situation, please ask for help. It doesnt have to be SASOD. Contact the Guyana Foundation or any agency or person with whom you feel comfortable. Despite the seemingly insurmountable challenges, it does get better. Just know that somebody cares. 1
