An open letter to 2-Bit Palomino fans from Don Richmond of Howlin’ Dog Records, the producer of their new record - WOULD YOU BUY A CUP OF COFFEE TO HELP THESE FOLKS DOWN THE ROAD? HI! Im Don Richmond, Co-Owner of Howlin Dog Records and Producer for the upcoming 2-Bit Palomino CD. We folk at Howlin’ Dog Records are excited about getting started on the new 2-Bit record project in December. They really have it all going - some really great songs, those oh-so-moving transcendent harmonies, great instrumental skills, and the drive and discipline to make it all happen. And I honestly feel that I, and we at HDR, are a great fit to help them do it. I’ve engineered and/or produced a hundred and some record projects for people (don’t keep count), and play a bunch of instruments, a few of which can help add a touch of sparkle or interest to the already great music happening. Making records is an infinite art - you never “get there” - but I know I have the skills in place to be a great partner for 2-Bit - and we have a killer rhythm section lined up too. So all the pieces are in place - except one. WE NEED YOU!! And so back to my question - WOULD YOU BUY THESE GUYS A CUP OF COFFEE TO HELP THEM DOWN THE ROAD? I think most of you would - in a heartbeat, at the drop of a hat - you’d buy them a cup of coffee, slap them on the back, and say, have a great trip to that next gig, the next stop on your journey. And so if you’re one of those folks that think, “Of course I’d buy them a cup of coffee”, I’m asking you to take about that same amount of money and make a pledge to their Kickstarter campaign at this link, because that’s an integral part of this next leg of their journey. All we need is a bunch of you folks to kick in something between $2.00 and $5.00, and we’ll be where we need to be. And why do we need to do things like Kickstarter to make this work? Because it takes a pretty good chunk of change to make a record that is the next stop on their trail - that takes them to the next place in their growth and progression as artists. They’ve already made some fine recordings on their own, and in order to make one that transcends those excellent previous efforts, one that qualifies as that “next step”, it takes more energy, more resources, and more help - from a producer that can share the vision and provide that slightly external perspective to help polish the diamond of the music, to lift it up a little more to the light, from a record company to help promote it, and right now, from YOU, their fans. The economics of the music business make it difficult to come up with what we need to make the record we want to make without a little help from you folks. And so one more time, then I promise I’ll shut up - WOULD YOU BUY THESE GUYS A CUP OF COFFEE TO HELP THEM DOWN THE ROAD? 2-Bit Palomino has great fan support - that’s one of the things that makes them so attractive to partner with for Howlin’ Dog Records. If each of you reading this can kick in just a little bit - an amount small enough that you will never notice it - like I said - $5.00 or so (and of course, more is welcome!) - you can then be part of bringing something truly beautiful into this world that is in such need of all the beauty it can get.
