An open letter to Daniel Blackman, vice president, general manager of About. Dear Daniel, The companys abrupt termination of me and seven other Experts on June 30 being a business decision aside, the company gave us no warning in regard to our termination; we were just shut out of our admin sites and company emails without warning. Then the company sent us termination notices after the fact. In my case, I did not receive a termination notice until several days after I was actually terminated. I know of several other former Experts who were terminated during the same timeframe that I was. Unlike me, the company at least gave them advanced notice, and extended the courtesy of allowing them access to their admin sites and emails for a period of time so that they could copy their email contacts and get their affairs in order. No such courtesy was extended to me or my other unfortunate colleagues on June 30. As I mentioned in my previous email, I had promised to publish stories about and review products for a number of people in the pet industry prior to my sudden termination. The fact that I was shut out of my company email made it very difficult for me to contact them to apprise them of the situation. I feel that I am owed an explanation as to why my termination was handled in such an abrupt and frankly cruel manner. This being a business decision is not an acceptable explanation, considering that this inconvenienced and disappointed many of my readers who were depending on me. I eagerly anticipate your reply, along with a more specific explanation as to why I and my seven other colleagues who were discarded in similarly cruel fashion were treated with such blatant disrespect.
