An open letter to all listeners of The Sixties: CKCU-FM: the home of “The Sixties” and dozens of other great programs will begin its annual Funding Drive this Friday, October 25th, 2013 and run until November 10th. The funding drive is one of the key sources of revenue that keeps CKCU-FM broadcasting each year. As The Sixties moves into its 30th year – it’s even more important that support remains strong. Large or small – EVERY donation is important. Your pledge provides about 30% of the overall operating budget – which helps pay for such things as the tower rental, hydro, phone, equipment upkeep and/or replacing, insurance, music licensing fees(SOCAN) among many other things. Along with The Sixties, CKCU offers programs of all musical genres – as well as spoken word programs in 12 different languages. Shows for the community created by people from the community. There are approximately 200 volunteers that create what you hear on the air each day at CKCU. Each bring their own area of expertise in music or in the spoken word programming they present. You can donate in several ways: you can pledge online now at ckcufm and click the “Donate Now” button. There you can donate by Credit Card, Paypal, Cheque or Money Order. If you have a business – you can have your business announced on the air. If you chose to be anonymous – you can select that as an option as well. Be sure and select the program that you wish to donate toward. All funds go towards CKCU – but naming a specific program insures that you’re listed among its listeners and your pledge is credited to that show. With CKCU-FM available around the world live on the internet-as well as being able to hear shows later via the “on-demand” service – no matter where you listen from, you pledge is just as important and greatly appreciated. This year CKCU’s funding drive target is $127,000. This money will greatly assist in covering the costs and giving you over 8,500 hours of programming each year.
