An open reply to my invitation to attend the Anual Coast to Coast - TopicsExpress

An open reply to my invitation to attend the Anual Coast to Coast Bully Walk: As many of you know October is Pit Bull Awareness Month. I was honoured to have been invited by the Indiana Chapter National Coast-Coast-Bully Walk and Pipers Page of Life to attend the 2014 Coast-to-Coast Bully Walk in Chesterton, Indiana, USA. As was stated in our invitation to attend The objective of The Coast-to-Coast Bully walk is to prove to the public that when the finer characteristics of the pit bull breed are nurtured the result is a family-oriented dog that is safe around all other living things. Every year celebrating on the weekend of National Pit Bull Awareness Day (October 26th), a gathering of dog lovers and their dogs across the country come together to bring awareness of BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) which unfairly targets certain dogs based upon appearance, by walking in pack to peacefully protest BSL & educate against the false consensus of this breed. I am very pleased to say that my Mum is going to attend and will be giving a speach on my behalf. I, however, cannot go. As many of you probably know, because of Breed Specific Legislation where I live, I am registered as a potentially Dangerous Dog. After making countless enquiries with different airlines and being given different reasons as to why I would not be able to travel - mainly size and weight related - we thought that we might be getting nearer to organising it. This wasnt to be. Airlines are not allowed to transport dangerous animals. Breed Specific Legislation has thus raised its ugly head again: I am officially registered as being a potentially Dangerous Dog because of my breed and cannot, therefore, travel to take part in this event. Its crazy, isnt it? - The event is organised to peacefully protest BSL but I cant attend because of BSL. Jambo - Staffy Bull Terrier Trick Dog.
