An operation targeting off-road motorcycles within the Lake - TopicsExpress

An operation targeting off-road motorcycles within the Lake Macquarie area has shown most riders are obeying the law, senior police say. Lake Macquarie Local Area Commander, Superintendent Brett Greentree said it was a good result that only one infringement was issued during the weekend’s operation. On Sunday 10 August 2014, four police officers targeted the illegal use of unregistered trail bikes. Between 8am and 4pm, the officers who were riding NSW Police motorcycles patrolled in various areas around Morisset. In all, 10 motorcycle riders were stopped with nine of those spoken to, and the tenth issued an infringement for owner permit illegal use of motor cycle. “Officers also conducted an enforcement operation last week which I believe assisted in this pleasing result,” Superintendent Greentree said. “The officers were able to access several new trails in the area and believe that there are only a relatively small number of riders acting illegally. “Police liaised with several members of the public and were able to gain information about other anti-social activities in the area. “These operations will continue and I urge anyone with information about unregistered motorcycle riders to come forward and contact us,” Superintendent Greentree said. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
