An opportunity to pursue a one-year Masters degree at Oxford Dear friends, You may have seen this, but Im sharing this with you all in case you or anyone you know would be interested and qualified for this scholarship opportunity. This scholarship has been offered to Burmese students for the past two years but they said they couldnt find any qualified candidates from the applicant pool. This is the third year they are opening this year. If they cant find any qualified one this time, they said they may have to close this opportunity. Show The Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship Monday, 24 November 2014 11:24 The Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship Prospect Burma and St Hugh’s College, the University of Oxford, are very pleased to announce The Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship 2015 The Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship has been created in partnership between Prospect Burma and St Hugh’s College, The University of Oxford, for Burmese Graduates. The successful applicant will receive full funding for a full-time, one year, Master’s degree course at St Hugh’s College, the University of Oxford in the academic year 2015/16. The scholarship is an opportunity for a Burmese graduate to study at one of the most prestigious universities in the world. The successful applicant will gain knowledge, skills, experience, and contacts that will enhance their future prospects. Prospect Burma For 25 years, Prospect Burma has been investing in a positive future for Burma (also known as Myanmar) through educating its young people. Prospect Burma was set up in 1989 and since that time the scholarship programme has opened doors to educational opportunities currently unavailable and underfunded within Myanmar by awarding some 2,300 scholarships. Its alumni are currently making real contributions to the development of Burma, particularly in this period of political transition. The Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship is the pinnacle of this programme and establishes a lasting educational legacy between Myanmar and the University of Oxford. This scholarship has been created in remembrance of Lady Gore-Booth’s dedication to keeping the flame of education alive in Myanmar and also honours her long association with Prospect Burma since the charity’s inception. It forms part of Oxford’s wide-ranging commitment to higher education in Burma, which Daw Suu urged upon the University when she received an honorary doctorate in law in 2012. Scholarship Criteria The eligibility of candidates is based upon applying for – and gaining a place – on the following courses: MPhil Development Studies; MSc Comparative Social Policy; MSc Economics for Development; MSc Education (Comparative and International Education); MSc Education (Learning and Teaching); MSc Environmental Change and Management; MSc Global Governance and Diplomacy; MSc Law and Finance; MSc Migration Studies; MSc Refugee and Forced Migration Studies; MSc Water Science, Policy and Management; MSt Womens Studies The Scholarship will be awarded to a Burmese student who has demonstrated excellent academic ability, will contribute to the University’s ground-breaking research, and will go on to contribute to the world as a leader in their field, pushing the frontiers of knowledge. Applicants should ordinarily be resident in Myanmar and intend to return upon course completion. With Prospect Burma’s emphasis on the development of Myanmar through education, an ideal candidate will be committed to using the Oxford Lady Gore-Booth Memorial Graduate Scholarship to contribute to the democratic and educational development of Myanmar.
