An unidentified person has died while another has sustained serious injuries after being involved in a road traffic accident near National Breweries along Great East road in Chipata. Eastern Province Deputy Police Commissioner Hudson Namuchila has confirmed the development to CTV news this morning. Namuchila says the duo was on a bicycle when they met their fate as they tried to avoid a pothole and fell on the tarmac and where then run over by an oncoming Mercedes Benz truck registration number AAZ 9406. The driver of the truck has been identified as Alfred McGregor aged 25 of Farm number D33 Airport road. Namuchila says the driver of the truck is in police custody and has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He says the body of the deceased who has not yet been identified is lying in Chipata General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem whilst the injured person is currently admitted at the same Hospital.
