An update from Brad Hixon regarding the March training in Mbuzi. I want to give the Lord the glory He deserves from our last Pastor’s training in Mbuzi, Mozambique. I had just finished eating supper with Mark Raley and decided to join the Pastors conversation behind our tent. As I sat down one of the Pastors named Samuel Masango told me what was being said. A man by the name of Robbie Baloyi was visiting camp and had been asking the group of Pastors questions about some churches in South Africa. They were all speaking Shangan and I had no idea what was being said. Masango turned to me and said that Robbie wanted my opinion on the questions. I began to Biblically answer his questions on tithing and on basically faith in Christ versus religious works. At the end of my answer he commented that “we Christians” need to watch out for churches who preach a prosperity gospel”. I asked him why he thought he was a Christian. He tried to explain that he knew he was a sinner and had repented. As I questioned him further he could not identify what made him a sinner nor could he explain repentance. He had vocabulary knowledge from the Bible, but had no idea what it meant. Over the next 45 minutes or so I was able to help him define sin through the 10 commandments. He agreed he had done some of those sins which revealed that he had a problem. He was separated from God. From that point we went to Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9-10. After explaining all have sinned, the consequences of our sin, and Jesus’ death to pay for our sin I told him that now that he knew the truth he had a decision to make. I told him that God does not make us choose him, but He allows us a choice. I asked him what he wanted to do and he replied, “How can I continue to live as I do now that I know”. Robbie chose to place his faith in Jesus’ death on the cross to forgive his sin. He cried out to God for forgiveness without any prompting from me or the other pastors. At a meeting 2 weeks ago I had told the staff at Samaria Mission that I had been praying about opportunities to share Jesus with others. On the way to get water in Mbuzi, Member Ngobeni and I had a conversation that the Pastors might need to be trained further in sharing the gospel. On Friday night March 7 God allowed both of these to be fulfilled. Father I give you praise for your grace and for saving Robbie Baloyi.
