An update on Phyllis Carlsons funeral. It will be Friday morning at 11a.m. in Newberry at Beaulieu Funeral Home. When Dave and I moved here to DeTour back in 1969, Elton and Phyllis Carlson were our first friends, neighbors, we rented their little red log cabin next to their home on Sims St (where Ken Bloch now has a home)...they both became Kristins first babysitter...Elton was the local CO and he was a damn fine one...the best this area ever had. Phyllis taught me how to make chokecherry jam...she made THE best lemon pie from scratch...her pie crust was heavenly...she would make deep fried whitefish livers and invite us over...I can remember the first time...I was so hesitant...after just one I was hooked for life....they were more than just neighbors...we lived by them for over 30 years before we moved out onto the SMR...she sold her home and moved to Newberry after Elton passed away...wed stop by and visit with her there...we brought Maddie to meet her...I can still picture her sitting on the couch with Kristen and Maddie in between the two of them and I just enjoyed seeing her hugging Maddie....as she hugged Kristen so many years ago. My heart is sad, but the memories are many and outweigh the sadness knowing she is now gone. Phyllis, we love you and are thankful to God that you were in our lives....and stop and visit my mom and give her a hug from me soon as you get to heaven....because I know you will be there!
