An update on my brother, Tim Stein 7/13/14 10:30 AM ~ Your medical team is still tweaking your meds in an effort to get you more comfortable and less twitchy, weaning you off meds you no longer need and adjusting the ones you do...I will say it has been a little tough to watch and it has gotten worse before it will get better but I think we are on the right track. Youve had a few hallucinations, one consistent one being that I had two black cats living with us in our room...but by last night you looked at me and said you didnt really have two black cats living here with us did you? and I replied no...and you said you had a new appreciation for people going through withdrawals...who knows, maybe this experience will lead you down the path to be a rehab counsellor...never know where life will lead you, my brother! You slept better last night and felt more rested this morning. So the focus for today and the next couple days is to continue tweaking your meds, get you back to a more comfortable state, and switch the focus back to your lungs, again assessing whether your lungs will take you where you want to go in life or if we need to arrange for some new ones...both paths are being considered and I will continue to pave the way as needed. Today, you still have very restless legs that dont seem to stop and you actively dream...you told me you won $32,000 off the penny slots at the casino last night! Cant believe you didnt take me with you! As you know, Mom Theresa Cecilia Holtz will be taking over for me this week as I am traveling north tomorrow so I can take care of my Minnesota life and enjoy my family that are excitedly awaiting my arrival. I have a UNMC medical team meeting scheduled for Friday, July 25th, and I will be back here that day to discuss our next step and to stay with you for a few days...I will only be gone for 12 days and will be in constant contact with your team each day...dont worry, YOU will do fine! We can google+ and text. Keep impressing the doctors and wooing the nurses! My homework for you is for YOU to believe in your strength, work with your medical team, and KNOW that YOU have control over your body. I will miss you very much, Tim. Be sure to dream big! I can tell you when all is said and done, we ARE going to hit the penny slots!
