An update on our beautiful, sweet boy, Hunter: His kidneys - TopicsExpress

An update on our beautiful, sweet boy, Hunter: His kidneys declined very, very rapidly. So much so that his doctor suspected lymphoma. In his last week with us, he went to the emergency clinic for IV fluids, we gave him sub-Q fluids at home, and we tried everything we could think of to get him to eat. We did not want our little guy to be stressed further with medications and more tests as his quality of life was so obviously deteriorating. On Friday, we had a wonderfully compassionate and calming veterinarian come to our home to put him to sleep. Hunter died calmly and peacefully with my husband and me by his side to tell him we loved him as he took his last breaths. When we got Hunter, we read every book we could get our hands on about how to raise cats and, in particular, about Bengals. Every book said Bengals were not lap cats and that if you wanted a snuggly cat, you shouldnt get a Bengal. Hunter proved that to be so woefully wrong. He loved to snuggle, be held, have his belly rubbed, and give us kisses. We could look in his eyes and see, not just a reflection of the love we had for him, but the love he had for us. We were incredibly blessed to have had this beautiful, unique, and loving little being as such a huge part of our family for 15 years. Rest in peace, little Hunter Boy. You are very much missed.
